Hunt underway for six masked men who burst into house being used as cannabis farm

A hunt is underway to find six masked men who burst into a house that was being used as a cannabis farm in Gorton.

Police were first called to the scene on Azalea Avenue at around 11pm last night (Saturday) after receiving reports of a ‘commotion’.

Neighbours said a group of around six men, all wearing balaclavas, broke into a house on the road.

They arrived at the scene in a white Berlingo van, a silver Ford Focus and a possible third dark vehicle, police said.

They burst into the house, then fled the scene.

Officers then found 60 cannabis plants inside the empty address.

It is not known whether anyone was hurt in the incident.

An investigation is now underway with a cordon still in place at the scene.

A section of Azalea Avenue was taped off on Sunday morning.

Detectives are now urging anyone who knows anything about the ‘targeted’ incident to come forward.

Detective Inspector Louise Edwards, of the Central Park CID, said: “Our main priority is establishing that no one came to harm during this incident and that those involved are caught and brought into custody.
